Take talented young writers from nine Wave academies across Cornwall and Devon.  Give each academy a picture to spark their imagination and ask them to write a section of a story and then pass it on to the next academy.  The result – three incredible ‘Chain Stories’ which are funny, exciting, chilling and, above all, BRILLIANT to read. 

Pupils and staff at Glendinning Academy, Wave’s special free school for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Devon, are incredibly happy to have moved into their brand new building in Newton Abbot. They are now busy making plans to invite members of the local community to join them for an exciting celebration event and see their new building and facilities during the summer term if Covid restrictions allow.

Two of the country’s leading street artists have been communicating with staff and pupils from Nine Maidens Academy in Cornwall after hearing their work had inspired the pupils’ GCSE coursework.

Pupils at Wave’s Torlands Academy have been swapping lessons in traditional classrooms for the chance to learn outdoors – thanks to the development of a new Forest School.

Supporting the health and wellbeing of pupils and parents – Wave launches new online programmes during coronavirus lockdown

Wave Trust have launched an online version of their pioneering Parent/Carer support programme which helps parents to manage their child’s behavioural and emotional difficulties and build positive relationships with the academy and other professionals.

This report covers the 3 academies in Devon rebrokered in Nov 2018 and Torlands academy which was de-amalgamated in Sept 2019. It is the first full year report under Wave Trust. The Trust was showing vast improvements again from last year but the final terms figures have been affected by Covid-19.

In line with our company vision to 'significantly change student lives for the better', the Wave Trust has introduced an "Awe and Wonder" scheme for our students. This is a fund that is dedicated to provide our students with access to activities and events that they may not normally have the opportunity to experience.
