Across the Trust we are very proud of the progress of our pupils. Through a difficult couple of years for pupils in schools nationally due to the disruption caused by the pandemic, our
pupils have persevered and on Thursday 25th August received their GCSE results for the exams they sat earlier this summer.
We have the highest expectations of what our pupils at WAVE APAs can achieve, and we are delighted with the number of pupils attaining qualifications in at least 5 GCSE or equivalent awards to support their next steps, as well as their personal progress from their starting points with us.
Often pupils have overcome or work with significant barriers and disruption to their educational journeys. We value every single result.
Headlines
In the Behaviour APAs
(Medical APA to follow once results are all gathered in)
- 81% of students in our Behaviour APA academies achieved a Grade 1-9 GCSE Maths
(compared to 59% Nationally*) - 89% of students in our Behaviour APAs achieved a Grade 1-9 in GCSE English (compared to
56% Nationally*) - 82% of students in our APAs achieved a Grade 1-9 in GCSE Science (compared to 36%
Nationally*) - 79% of our students were entered for the equivalent of 5+ GCSE or equivalent Level 2
awards - 50% of students in Behaviour APAs gained 1 or more GCSE Grades 9-4
- 55% of students gained 5+ GCSEs including English and Maths, with 94% of students gaining
at least 1 GCSE qualification
These achievements are excellent and reflect the hard work and commitment of all within our Trust and the wider stakeholder community, and most of all of course, the students themselves. They compare incredibly favourably to results nationally within the APA sector and we continue to strive for the very best for our young people in terms of preparing them
for their next steps in the wider world and post 16 pathways

From North Cornwall APA, "students are celebrating as 100% gain a Grade 9-1 in English, Maths and Science. Over 92% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs or equivalent"
From Stansfield, "Congratulations to Y11 student TB, who secured three grade 5's (including Biology, English and Maths) and one grade 4 in Physics and two grade 3's Business and English Lit.
TB has also secured an apprenticeship in Electrical Plumbing as a results of a year's work experience which was set up by the school."
