Wave academies across Devon and Cornwall have moved to a Distance Model of Education and Safeguarding due to significant staff absence as a result of Covid-19.

In response to the guidance released by the Government with regards to maintaining education provision, we are urgently establishing how we can further enhance the offer in place by re-opening or part re-opening some of our academies. Currently the only feasible way of doing this will be to operate a hub model, and as such this provision may not be at the academy the child is used to attending, and may not be with staff that they know.

Our priority as a community must be to reduce the spread of the virus COVID-19 by following the Government's social distancing and self-isolation guidance. This means that if children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the spread of the virus spreading. We are currently ascertaining what staff we have available to enable us to move to this model, this is a very fluid situation.

It is our intention to open for those children who absolutely need to attend, even if this is not their normal place of education. If you have a need to send your child(ren) to one of our academies please book them in using the link provided by your academy.

For further information please see: Government Publication: Maintaining Education Provision

The hub model is being put together to further enhance the current model of education delivery and support which will run until the end of term on Friday 27th March 2020. We would like to thank all of the incredible and selfless staff who have already volunteered to work in the academies. Please note, if staffing drops below a critical level we will be forced to close the hubs.
