9th April 2020

Earlier this week we contacted all our parents and carers to determine the demand for opening educational hubs for vulnerable children and children of key workers. Although demand still remains low, we have decided to open the following academies:

  • Penwith (Penzance)
  • Nine Maidens (Redruth)
  • North Cornwall (Bodmin)
  • Stansfield (Exeter)
  • CHES (Truro)
  • Torlands (Exeter) - open on Tuesdays and Thursdays

The new educational hubs will open on Tuesday 14th April 2020.

We will be contacting parents and carers who have requested a place to provide details of how the system will operate. The offer for a place will not necessarily be at a pupil’s normal place of education and will be subject to a risk assessment. Places will be allocated on level of need and the allocation of places may change if demand increases.

It is important to recognise that this is not about 'entitlement'. It is about doing the right thing for the greater good of society and allowing the academies to open for those children who need it the most. The fewer children we have in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus will spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society, you and your families.

For all our other pupils we will continue to operate the Distance Model of Learning & Safeguarding for the foreseeable future.
